# Reason Codes

###### The Reason Code is a number containing more-detailed information on why the transaction was successful or failed, e. g. “Request successful” or “Authentication failed”.

## Response messages

The `PAYMENT_REQUEST` response returns the special element `<customer-message>`. It contains a notification that can be shown to the customer. This will help the customer correcting invalid data and result into a higher conversion rate.

Customer messages are available in Dutch, English, French and German.

The language of `<customer-message>` depends on the data from the PAYMENT_REQUEST:
customer-language (if submitted),
shop-language (if submitted)
or the country code of the billing address.

`<customer-message>` can contain html-hyperlinks
(Standard format: `&lt;a href="http.."&gt;...&lt;/a&gt;`).

| `603` | Die Wunschrate entspricht den vorgegebenen Bedingungen. |
| `671` | Die letzte Rate war niedriger als erlaubt. Laufzeit und/oder Rate wurden angepasst. |
| `688` | Die Rate war niedriger als für Ratenpläne mit langer Laufzeit erlaubt. Die Laufzeit wurde angepasst. |
| `689` | Die Rate war niedriger als für Ratenpläne mit kurzer Laufzeit erlaubt. Die Laufzeit wurde angepasst. |
| `695` | Die Rate ist zu hoch für die minimal verfügbare Laufzeit. Die Rate wurde verringert. |
| `696` | Die Wunschrate ist zu niedrig. Die Rate wurde wurde erhöht. |
| `697` | Für die gewählte Ratenhöhe ist keine entsprechende Laufzeit verfügbar. Die Ratenhöhe wurde angepasst. |
| `698` | Die Rate war zu niedrig für die maximal verfügbare Laufzeit. Die Rate wurde erhöht. |
| `699` | Die Rate ist zu hoch für die minimal verfügbare Laufzeit. Die Rate wurde verringert. |
