In the case of a negative gateway response with

​Reason Code 703: Request not succesful,
Reason Code 720: Declined - Payment attribute,
Reason Code 721: Declined - Transaction risk,
Reason Code 730: Declined - Buyer identity​

the merchant should display a message to the customer explaining the cause of the rejection.

Customer Message

For several responses, the Ratepay gateway submits a <customer-message> that can be shown to the customer.
