This page is for merchants integrated directly with Ratepay through Payment API 1.8 or Payment API 2.0.
For affected transactions, CCD2 responsibilities are shared between you and Ratepay. This page explains who handles what, which buyer experience options are available, and where to continue with the technical implementation.
First, check whether CCD2 applies to your business.
If CCD2 applies, continue with the responsibilities and implementation options below.

Prepare the buyer journey
Inform the buyer about SECCI and initiate the required SECCI flow.Ratepay provides the SECCI
Ratepay generates the document and supports the selected delivery method.Submit the transaction
Complete the SECCI flow and provide the required evidence/reference with the payment request.Ratepay completes the credit flow
Ratepay performs the creditworthiness assessment and provides the applicable credit outcome and post-purchase Credit Contract Information.
Choose one of the two supported SECCI notice and delivery experience patterns. We recommend automatic email after selecting an affected Ratepay payment method for the lowest-friction buyer experience.
Recommended: Automatic SECCI email
SECCI is sent automatically to the buyer by email, as soon as an CCD2-affected Ratepay payment method has been selected. No extra step is added to the checkout.
Why we recommend it:
Your checkout stays as short as it is today.
Explicit SECCI interaction
Before continuing with the checkout, the buyer downloads the SECCI or chooses to receive it by email. This adds a step to the checkout.
If the Buyer email address is not available before checkout, use the dedicated flow:
The technical Direct API integration follows the same principles across supported sales channels. What changes is the buyer or staff experience.
MOTO flow
For MOTO purchases, a sales agent supports the buyer through the journey while the buyer still needs to receive the applicable SECCI before the payment flow is completed.
In-store flow
For in-store purchases, staff guide the Buyer through the required SECCI flow before the transaction is completed.
The CCD2 responsibilities are the same. Choose the technical guide that matches your current Ratepay integration.
