👤 Merchant Onboarding Team (Marcel K.)

This page is for merchants integrated directly with Ratepay through the Hosted Payment Page (HPP).

For in-scope transactions, Ratepay manages the majority of CCD2 compliance requirements, leaving only minimal action required on your end. This page explains who handles what, which buyer experience options are available, and where to continue with the technical implementation.

Before you start

First, check whether CCD2 applies to your business.

If CCD2 applies, continue with the responsibilities and implementation options below.

Who does what?

Merchant

  1. Promotes BNPL compliantly
  2. Presents payment methods neutrally
  3. Informs Buyers about SECCI before redirecting to the HPP (recommended)

Ratepay

  1. Completes SECCI before payment submission
  2. Supports SECCI delivery
  3. Provides SECCI evidence data
  4. Performs creditworthiness assessment
  5. Provides & displays credit-decline messaging
  6. Delivers Credit Contract Information

How the flow works

  1. You prepare the buyer journey (recommended)
When the buyer selects an in-scope payment method, tell them they will receive the SECCI, then create an HPP session.

  2. Ratepay handles the SECCI flow
On the HPP, Ratepay completes the SECCI flow and provides the required evidence/reference with the payment authorization.

  3. Ratepay completes the credit flow
Ratepay performs the creditworthiness assessment and provides the applicable credit outcome and post-purchase Credit Contract Information.

Hosted Payment Page buyer experience

Choose one of the two supported SECCI experience patterns. We recommend automatic email for the lowest-friction Buyer experience.
